Stains and Finishes
Standard Stains
Bella uses penetrating oil stains for a depth and clarity of grain that only oil stains can provide. They are hand-applied with at least two applications to give color richness as well as depth and clarity.
Stain To Match (No Charge)
Bella Contract maintains a library of stain matches allowing us to duplicate almost any stain chip from other manufacturers.
Standard Finish
We use catalyzed conversion lacquers exclusively. The standard finish is in the 55-65 sheen range and closed pore with approximately 100% of the pore depth filled. The finish is extremely mar-resistant and impervious to normal heat and liquids found in the office.
Special Finishes
Special finishes include closed-pore (glass smooth), high gloss of 85-90 sheen, oiled effect sheen and solid color lacquers in either matte or high gloss.
Finish Quality
Bella's products are known for their quality of finish. The rarely-seen depth and clarity of our finishes are achieved by diligent and thorough sanding of the bare woods, followed by a two step application of penetrating oil stains, and then several coats of lacquer, hand rubbed between each coat. The last step is the final lacquer application which is applied in special dust-free spray rooms. We do not rub the final coat as do most manufacturers. Rubbing leaves multitudinous fine scratches which, though tiny, are very visible. Rather, we are able to leave the last coat of lacquer as it was sprayed - a lustrous patina that is soft in appearance and extremely smooth - a look and feel that is impossible to achieve through rubbing with pumices and powders.
